Experiment 1: Theory Work

Documentary Type:

The mode of the machinima explosion documentary film I created is a typical expository documentary with sense of reflection towards my hypothesis stated in week2 which conveys the idea of boundary of spaces created during explosion by different porosity effects. The documentary film was created by compiling videos of Gmod in Sony Vegas. I used captions to show expository of this documentary film. And the benefit of expository film is not to inform by description or captions but to argue a point of view in order to convey a stronger message.

Hypothesis:

I have used combinations of videos, background music and texts to convey and clarify my idea of 3D spaces created by explosion. This documentary film has compiled different videos to clearly convey the idea of spaces within spaces and boundary that separates them apart.

Space boundaries are created by exploding materials of different sizes, weights, amounts, and constraints. Explosions of different power and method are also used to define the difference of spaces by different porosity effects.

Gmod Explosion - Week 1 and Week 2

Week 2 Task




For the week 2 Gmod experiment, I was trying to create a space that is made of different size of spaces within the big one and they are all connected closely. I had this idea of connected spaces after watching the extreme explosion found in Youtube which explores into porosity of explosion and multiple impacts.

Machinima + Extreme Explosion

The idea is all about extreme. The maker of this video want to show extreme explosions that people don't usually experience by using gaming environment.

It's a interesting video because all sorts of extreme explosions have been tested, e.g dropping tanks from sky, remote exploding cars in a sequence, oil barrels exploding like tower etc. And the result is simply spectacular.

Zhang Yin and Carlos Slim's Spaces with meeting place. The concept of power has been conveyed by the their spaces. The concept of design has used traditional Chinese Architectural idea which the sky (upper space for Carlos Slim) is square and earth (lower space for Zhang Yin) is arounded.




Zhang Yin's Space consists of multiple cylinders which describe her journey to success as a narrow winding road. I used arounded shape to describe Zhang Yin's Success because it represents harmony and nature which is what her business is about-recycling paper, save the environment.





Zhang Yin's Office - harmoney through shapes. Her office acts as the elevator as well.








Carlos Slim's Space represents evilness which is a dark, prison like organic shape that simplises his greediness like a animal.(he doesn't donate money).







His office has only one chair for himself while zhang Yin's office has two which again describes his greediness.







The meeting space is the combination of the two clients space which consists of circles and squares.
